Expressing Trauma Through Art

Please join us for a FREE workshop for Sexual Assault Survivors!
This is not group therapy, but rather a supportive, non-judgmental space to provide empowerment, encouragement and healing. The empowerment mask is a workshop that allows participants to express through art, feelings that follow their trauma. We are going to be making a mask with 2 sides: the victim side and a survivor side. The mask workshop also serves to validate the choice that you are making to heal and not allow the experience of sexual violence to define who you are. All supplies will be provided; and advocates will be present along with an Art Therapist Marcy Purdy to facilitate and guide you every step of the way!
Last week we held our first empowerment workshop called “Empowerment Mask Workshop” facilitated by our local Art Therapist Marcy Purdy. Survivors expressed their feelings what victim vs survivor means to them. Thank you to everyone who participated in this group and sharing their powerful and emotional stories. More empowerment workshops to follow💕
Thank you to all survivors that attended our Mask Empowerment Workshops and letting us share your artwork. Thank you to the Inner Truth Project for co-sponsoring these workshops with us. Thank you to Sheerah Neal LMHC and Marcy Purdy for facilitating our workshops. Special thanks to St. Lucie Clerk Joe Smith for displaying our masks at the St. Lucie County Clerk’s Office located on the 2nd floor in Fort Pierce for the whole month of April for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. If you’d like to visit the wall don’t forget to take a photo or grab some some brochures and some bracelets to take with you! If you were wanting to take a picture please use hashtag #bebelievedhere and #saaptc19 so we can share your posts💕
