Sexual Assault Assistance Program of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee

We exist so that no victim of sexual violence on the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee has to go through crisis alone. We help victims regardless of age, circumstances, or their decision of whether to involve law enforcement or not. We are not a law enforcement agency. We are a group of trained advocates, counselors, and administrators who help victims, family and friends in our local community who have been impacted by sexual violence.

– The Sexual Assault Assistance Program of the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee

Men, women, and children

are all affected by sexual violence.

1 out of every 6 American women and 1 in 33 American men have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime. From 2009-2013, Child Protective Services agencies found strong evidence to indicate that 63,000 children a year were victims of sexual abuse.

1 in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult.

Every 73 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted.

And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child.

Sexual violence affects hundreds of thousands of Americans each year. While we’re making progress — the number of assaults has fallen by more than half since 1993 — even today, only 5 out of every 1,000 rapists will end up in prison.
