VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

What does becoming a SAAP volunteer involve?

Supporting survivors is meaningful work, and preparation matters. Volunteers complete specialized training and commit to the standards, confidentiality, reliability, and expectations of the program.

This is a long-term volunteer commitment.

Our volunteer program requires extensive training, continued education, dependable availability, and a minimum two-year commitment.

Complete 40+ Hours of Training

Attend more than 40 hours of required training, including the required Florida Council Against Sexual Violence Advocacy Core Training.

Attend Meetings + Continuing Education

Attend quarterly staff meetings and participate in continuing education.

Follow SAAP Policies + Procedures

Volunteers are required to follow all policies and procedures of the Sexual Assault Assistance Program.

Protect Confidentiality

All volunteers must sign and follow a confidentiality pledge.

Minimum 16 Hours Per Month

Volunteers must commit to a minimum of 16 hours of volunteer service each month.

Two-Year Commitment

Volunteers are expected to make a minimum two-year commitment to the program.

Reliable Transportation

Volunteers must have reliable transportation to meet the responsibilities and scheduling needs of the program.

Level 2 Background Check

Volunteers are required to complete and successfully pass a Level 2 background screening.
