SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE TEAM
Better response starts together.
The 19th Judicial Circuit Sexual Assault Response Team brings professionals together to strengthen coordinated, survivor-centered responses to sexual violence.
SART helps agencies communicate, understand each other’s roles, identify gaps, and improve the response survivors receive across our four-county service area.
WHAT IS SART?
A coordinated community response.
A Sexual Assault Response Team, or SART, is a multidisciplinary group of professionals who work together to improve the community’s response to sexual assault.
Law Enforcement
Law enforcement partners contribute investigative experience and help strengthen coordination across responding agencies.
Medical + Forensic
Healthcare professionals and forensic nurses bring medical, forensic, and patient-care expertise to the response.
Survivor Advocacy
Advocates help keep survivor needs, rights, options, and support at the center of the coordinated response.
Community Partners
Additional professionals and agencies contribute specialized knowledge, resources, and perspectives.
WHY COLLABORATION MATTERS
No single agency responds alone.
Survivors may interact with multiple systems following sexual violence. Those systems work best when professionals understand each other’s responsibilities, communicate effectively, and identify opportunities to improve the overall response.
SART creates a space for those conversations to happen before, during, and after challenges arise.
Build stronger communication across disciplines.
Recognize gaps, challenges, and emerging needs.
Improve practices and multidisciplinary response.
SAAP + SART
SAAP has a seat at the table.
The Sexual Assault Assistance Program participates in SART as the local certified rape crisis program serving Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee Counties.
SAAP brings the advocacy perspective into multidisciplinary conversations and helps ensure survivor support, options, confidentiality, and access to services remain part of the response.
19TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT
SART across four counties.
SART collaboration takes place throughout the four counties served by SAAP and Florida’s 19th Judicial Circuit.

WORKING TOGETHER
SART is built on multidisciplinary participation.
Different disciplines bring different expertise to the table. The goal is not for every agency to do the same job — it is for each partner to understand how their role fits into the larger response.
